Notes: |
"A post office cable marker dated 1901 was recovered from the A38 [in 1972]. It marked the London-Penzance cable, the first long distance cable in the SW and one of the first in the country.
It was donated to the Telecom Museum, North Street, Taunton which upon closure sent its artefacts elsewhere, probably to Goonhilly Down or Porthcurno Museum in Cornwall." |
